Web Design Process for Clients

Web Design Process for Clients

BY Gytis Ceglys

Web design is a delicate balance of aesthetics and functionality. Here at WOOBRO we pride ourselves in achieving this equilibrium.

In this article we will share with you our design process that we have streamlined into 8 simple steps. The theme that runs through every phase of this strategy is the focus on your site achieving its goals. At every stage, from technical website design, content creation and branding, to integrating elements that will drive traffic to your website, and grow your business, our emphasis is always to ensure your site ultimately converts.

So let’s take a closer look at the design process to give you a better insight into how we work…

1. Goal Identification

At WOOBRO we listen carefully to our clients to identify what goals their sites need to accomplish. To learn more about this process, read our article on the ‘10 Essential Questions We Always Ask BEFORE Designing a Client’s Website’.

2. Scope Definition

Once we know your site’s key objectives, we can then define the scope of the project. We will plan out what pages, features and functionalities your site needs to fulfil its goals, as well as create a comprehensive timeline for the creation process.

3. Sitemap and Wireframe Creation

With the scope agreed upon, we can start exploring how the sitemap will fit together. Here we will focus on how to integrate the site’s content and features to find the best fit for all aspects and elements of your website.

4. Content Creation

Sitemap visualised, we will begin to create the necessary content. Here we use a combination of artistic license and SEO techniques to ensure your content creates a valuable user experience whilst quickly ranking well in the search engines.

5. Visual Elements

The branding of your website is as important to us as the technical design. With content creation in place, we will start to consider the visual elements of your site.

6. Site Development

Site development is the next stage of the process. Here we will build the HTML and CSS of the site, creating templates and integrating the designs into the WordPress content management system. We will also work on developing the media elements of the content, including the creation of videos, slideshows, podcasts, and other media that will appear on the site.

7. Testing

With the site design and content approved, it’s time to make sure it all works. We now use a combination of techniques to identify any issues with the site, from technical problems to user experience glitches.

8. Launch

Site ready, it’s time for the most exciting part of the process. Let us help you plan and oversee your site launch, helping your site make an immediate impact with your target audience.

9. Site Maintenance

As the site’s designers, we are best placed to work on site maintenance. As part of our ongoing support we will update your content, make any necessary changes or improvements to the backend, and ensure your site is well optimized and performing to the max.
